16 jóvenes de cinco religiones y 14 nacionalidades diferentes llegaron a Bilbao el lunes, 5 de diciembre de 2005, siete días antes del comienzo del Congreso principal, para formar parte del Encuentro Juvenil sobre el diálogo intercultural e interreligioso: Dentro del marco del Congreso “Nuevos desafíos en un mundo que ansía la paz” que tuvo lugar en Bilbao del 11 al 13 de diciembre de 2005, un grupo de jóvenes procedentes de diversos continentes tuvieron la posibilidad de contactar y de compartir sus experiencias no sólo con sus propias sino también con otras culturas y religiones.

On Monday, 5 th of December 2005, 16 young people from 14 different nationalities and five religions arrived at Bilbao to form part of the “Youth Internship Programme on the Intercultural and Interreligious Dialogue” seven days before the beginning of the main-congress: Within the framework of the Congress “Nuevos desafíos en un mundo que ansía la paz” which took place in Bilbao from 11. - 13. December 2005 a group of young people from different places of different continents got the opportunity to get in contact and to share their experiences with their own but also with other cultures and religions.

Il faut saluer la parution du Compendium de la Doctrine Sociale de l’Eglise, ouvrage remarquable à tout point de vue. Voilà un document publié par le Vatican qui, malgré son nom de doctrine, n’est ni doctrinaire ni dogmatique. Un ouvrage qui incite à poursuivre les recherches, car c’est un instrument de travail : 190 pages d’index pour 330 pages de textes. Pour tous ceux qui pensent que le Vatican ne sait que condamner et lancer à la tête des catholiques des vérités toutes faites, voilà un beau démenti.

Venimos de diferentes puntos de España, y también de Israel, Italia, Polonia, Alemania, EEUU, Irán, México, Zimbabwe, Bélgica, Paraguay, Indonesia y Brasil. Nuestra formación religiosa es igualmente variada: Brama Kumaris, Bahai, Cristiana, Judía y Musulmana.

Tratándose de un grupo tan diverso, resultó todo un reto buscar acuerdos sobre una plataforma identitaria común. Empezamos concentrándonos en un ejercicio de reflexión, cuestionando nuestra percepción de la propia identidad, y el papel jugado en este concepto por la cultura y la religión

Estimulados por las muchas intervenciones y debates durante el congreso y los seminarios celebrados a continuación del mismo, y conscientes de los motivos que nos movieron a organizar este evento, sus organizadores deseamos llamar la atención sobre ciertos elementos claves que, habiendo cristalizado durante los trabajos del congreso, han de guiar las decisiones y opciones concretas relacionadas con la interacción entre las diferentes culturas y religiones que van a jugar un papel importante en nuestro futuro común.

Stimulated by the Congress presentations and the ensuing discussions, and mindful of the motives that prompted us to convene this event, we, the organizers, wish to draw attention to a number of insights that have crystallized now to the point that they need to inform the decisions and concrete choices that we make concerning the interaction among the different cultures and religions that have a role to play in our common future.

El diálogo entre culturas y entre religiones se ha convertido en una de las dimensiones fundantes de las culturas modernas y en una de las condiciones de madurez de las tradiciones religiosas en la actualidad. Convocar únicamente por vía de urgencia a los interlocutores, cuando los conflictos y los sucesos dramáticos tensionan todos los niveles de la convivencia y del entendimiento, supone añadir dificultades a situa- ciones complejas.
